One month in and 6,000 unique visits

Kerplunk today celebrated its first month since going live and racked up its 6,000th unique visit in the process. I must admit to being quite surprised at having attracted anyone at all let alone visitors from all around the world including in just our last 100 visits: Australia, the USA, Canada, Austria, Singapore, Britain, China, Spain, Denmark, South Africa, Germany, Romania, Poland, South Korea, Malaysia and Zambia. Hello, Zambia! Drop us a comment and let us know how things are over in your neck of the woods.

I must admit that I completely underestimated the amount of work that it takes to maintain a blog like Kerplunk where I write the majority of the content. The 10 Institutions That Ruin The World series of posts ran to nearly 14,000 words of which more than 10,000 were my own. Given that I didn't have anything written when I decided on the order of the top 10 the requirement to churn out over 1,000 words per day for the ten days that the series ran was a fair old task. I might not get so enthusiastic in future about announcing my intention to post one a day when I'm starting from scratch!

Without a doubt the highlight of the month was the response to my post 10 Signs You're A Moral Idiot. It accounted for between one-third and one-half of the traffic to Kerplunk and lots of comments after it somehow made its way onto Conservative Grapevine, which I'd never heard of up until that point. It's obviously a popular site, as it generated around 1,000 visits alone.

Thanks to everyone that's emailed me with feedback and ideas, and to those that have left comments.

How about those that have right comments ;-)

The first time I was directed to your blog, I knew you deserved a link on mine.

Cheers, Kirkill. All comments welcomed, even the one that called me a douche bag. Says more about the commenter than me.

Thanks, Darren. I've added a reciprocal link to Right On The Left Coast (must be painful for you, especially as a teacher!).

The process is very technical and may require a person with manual software installation skills. The steps provide below are unofficial and the result will depend on the device and user's capabilities.
