Irish environment minister calls climate change "hysterical pseudo-religion"

At least it's not all one way traffic in the world of Climate Change politics in Western Europe...
The Environment Minister Sammy Wilson has angered green campaigners by describing their view on climate change as a "hysterical psuedo-religion".

In an article in the News Letter, Mr Wilson said he believed it occurred naturally and was not man-made.

"Resources should be used to adapt to the consequences of climate change, rather than King Canute-style vainly trying to stop it," said the minister.

Peter Doran of the Green Party said it was a "deeply irresponsible message."

Mr Wilson said he refused to "blindly accept" the need to make significant changes to the economy to stop climate change.

"The tactic used by the "green gang" is to label anyone who dares disagree with their view of climate change as some kind of nutcase who denies scientific fact," he said.
The minister said he accepted climate change can occur, but does not believe the cause has been identified.

"Reasoned debate must replace the scaremongering of the green climate alarmists."
John Woods of Friends of the Earth said Mr Wilson was "like a cigarette salesman denying that smoking causes cancer".

"Ironically, if we listen to him Northern Ireland will suffer economically as we are left behind by smarter regions who are embracing the low carbon economy of the future."

It is the latest clash between Mr Wilson and green groups since his appointment as environment minister in June.
The Irish have not only rejected the latest attempt to reduce their freedom by not ratifying the EU's constitution but they're also sticking it to the EU's philosophical Marxist friends, Big Green.

Naturally, unable to provide scientific proof of their position Climate Alarmists resort to the old cigarette company comparison.

They are truly pathetic.

Update: My mistaken attribution of Ireland's rejection of the EU with Northern Ireland has been spotted in comments.

Sammy Wilson is the environment minister in Northern Ireland, which is a part of the UK. So it's not correct to link this to the Irish vote on the EU constitution, which took place in the Republic of Ireland. Northern Ireland's unionists tend to be pretty right-wing, so it's not too much of a surprise to hear these comments, but it is welcome.

Thanks for the correction, EU.

Way over here in the land of Oz I can only say that they're all Irish to me...!

Well, the Hell with you, Mr Lacton.

As it happens, I agree with you and with Sammy Wilson.

But you fouled up bigtime in getting Northern Ireland and the Republic conflated. Consider what sort of ignoramus would get Australia and New Zealand similarly confused, and then when pulled on it decline to acknowledge the error and explain that "They all look the same to me". Then look in the mirror.

Part of our armoury in this debate is that we're smarter and more switched-on than the Goreites. You're not helping.

Thon,

It was the Kilkenny wot dunnit!

This Sammy Wilson - he's a scientist is he? Or at least has a science background?

thon brocket - Lacton is deeply ignorant, horribly racist and spectacularly stubborn. This post and his follow-up comments demonstrate that nicely.

Excuse me, Mr Fudgie.

You have not posted even one item proving CO2 is the primary driver of climate change in all of your time here.

Furthermore, the charge of racism is unfounded and simply outs you as one of the standard name calling, no argument leftists that are ruining the world.

Fudgie, surely even someone like you would admit that the whole philosophy of AGW alarmism can simply be expressed as:

"We the Government will tax you, and in return, we will attempt to control your weather."

Truly, I am in awe, watching the slow-motion destruction of the latest popular delusion of the lumpen proletariat, accompanied by the increasingly frenzied shrieking of its proponents.

Fudgie, your poo-flinging efforts to date do not exactly establish your intellectual credentials in the manner in which you desire.

Fucky - as always, you prove that you'll believe any old shit if it says something that sounds like your crazed climate beliefs. You've never shown even one piece of evidence that adding a strong infrared absorber to the atmosphere doesn't make it hotter.

What makes you think I haven't shown you all the evidence you need that CO2 is currently driving the observed global warming? Are you blind as well as stupid? It certainly appears so. Well, in a nice simple visual way for the hard of thinking, do you not think that this graph is rather suggestive of cause and effect?

The charge of racism is certainly founded. Your posts that aren't about climate generally positively drip with your filthy prejudices. If you've got any self-awareness at all, you should really think hard about whether saying things like "they're all Irish to me" makes you look a) intelligent or b) unintelligent.

Jack Lacton said...

Fudgie,

You are being dishonest yet again.

I have never claimed that increasing CO2 does not increase temperature. It simply has to.

My argument has always been that it is a minor contributor to the current warming.

I have repeatedly asked you to provide the scientific proof that CO2 increase is the major driver of temperature change.

You have not done so because it is untrue, as you well know.

Your charges of racism are based on my criticism not of a race but of a religion - Islam.

If you were intellectually honest then you would recognise that.

As to "saying things like "they're all Irish to me" makes you look a) intelligent or b) unintelligent"

The correct answer is that it makes me look c) wrong.

Very unpleasant anonymous. - yet again.

You and your kind are the reason that your causes fail so often. - nobody likes you, because you're horrible people.

When Lacton wrote "they're all Irish to me" he followed it with dots and an exclamation mark.

Does your failure to notice that his tongue was firmly in his cheek make you

1/ Unintelligent.
2/ A humourless p.c. inflicted leftie drone.

Jack Lacton said...

Hoppers,

At least someone noticed that I was tongue in cheek...!

Unfortunately, our friend Fudgie is an angry man who projects his values on us.

Anonymous said...

Never claimed it, fucky? So what was the deal with you promoting the views of Heinz Thieme just a few days ago?

What, to you, would constitute proof that CO2 is the major driver of climate change?

hoppers - so how about if I call Italians wops? Is that ok, if I follow it with dots and an exclamation mark? You are a stupid shit...! Presumably that's OK as well.

Look at yourself anonymous.

I suspect that you've reached the stage where your first reaction to any situation is abuse.

I think you need help.
