Sunday night rock 'n' roll

The Black Crowes (or the Crowes) are an American, blues-oriented hard rock jam band that has sold over 20 million albums. They were hailed by Melody Maker as "The Most Rock 'n' Roll Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World". In 1990, the readers of Rolling Stone named it the 'Best New American Band'. The band has toured with acts such as Aerosmith, Jimmy Page, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Who, AC/DC, The Grateful Dead, and Neil Young. The Crowes are listed at #92 on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock".

There's no doubt that The Black Crowes have been a terrific rock 'n' roll band, as the videos included here show. If you haven't got their live album, Live At The Greek, with Jimmy Page then you're missing out.

I saw them during the week, as they're touring Australia, and I have to say that lead singer Chris Robinson has lost it. Not in the way that, say, Ian Gillan is no longer the singer he was at the peak of his powers. Robinson was extremely whiny and the best bits of the concert were when he wasn't singing. The crowd was also quite small (around 500) and many of those tickets were freebies (like mine) so it was good that they played for over 2 hours.

Jealous Again

Sick Again (Led Zep tune with Jimmy Page)
