The Kerplunk Victim Status Formula

I've been thinking about doing a post listing the different type of 'victims' in today's society with a view to ranking them in hierarchical order so that each group knows what other groups it has to be politically correct with (those above it) and what groups can be treated with disdain.

In doing some research for another topic I happened across the Eternal World Television website, a part of the global Catholic network, and their essay The Neoliberal Ticket to Success: The Victim Status in which they have already done some of the work that I intended so I'll use it as a starting point for this post.

Various Neoliberal special interest groups have learned that the most certain way to achieve social progress is to get people to sympathize with them. The easiest and most direct way to do this is to assume a permanent victim status, and thereby demand special treatment under the guise of "civil rights."

This strategy is patterned after the original civil rights movement. However, whereas the civil rights movement had as its goal the full equality of Black people, our society has devolved to the point where any group with an anti-life agenda can succeed in achieving its goals merely by wrapping itself in the cloak of "civil rights."

The civil rights movement included a large class of genuine victims, but its individual members did not dwell on this fact; the anti-life movements are different in that they are by no stretch of the imagination actual victims, but they recognize the great value in being perceived as such.

Therefore, the Neoliberal movements manufacture and compile daunting lists of imaginary transgressions committed against their special interest groups, exaggerate actual offenses to act as centerpieces in their propaganda campaigns, and rewrite history to reflect or magnify this imaginary "victimhood."

The central message of this bogus and self-defeating philosophy is that American society is unjustly oppressing a large number of certified "victim groups." The anti-life strategists insist that our society is infested with: classism ("oppression of the working classes"); able-ism ("oppression of the handicapped"); look-ism (described by the Smith College Office of Student Affairs as "construction of a standard for beauty/attractiveness"); capitalism; Eurocentrism (a "preoccupation with Western culture"); interventionism; colonialism; sexism; racism; age-ism; eterosexism ("oppression of homosexuals"); species-ism; size-ism; weight-ism; and an impressive swarm of other "isms."

The great danger of this defeatist mindset is as obvious as it is inevitable. Quite simply, perception becomes reality if one is brainwashed for long enough.

There's another great danger that is highlighted less frequently than it should be; being a member of a victim class is an 'excuse' for committing crime, being on drugs and abusing your spouse or children. We see it today when people excuse the atrocities committed by Islamic terrorists on the grounds that we (the West) drove them to it via our Mid-East policies and the Crusades etc. As the narrative goes - they are the victims, not us, therefore what they do is excusable. We are not the victims. When we fight back that's called oppression.

A hierarchy exists essentially dictating who can attack whom with impunity. In other words, we have evolved "pecking orders" where the weak "victims" (who actually wield the power) can attack the strong "oppressors" (who actually have little voice) with impunity. It all depends on the relative perceived degree of victimization of the attacker and the 'attackee.'

The following are the categories I'm using and the value I've assigned to each member.

Using the above, it's possible to develop what I'm calling the Kerplunk Victim Status Formula, a handy rule of thumb for working out whether the person you're talking to is above you or below you in the grand victim scheme of things.

Victim Index = (Race + Sexuality + Religion) x Politics

Topping the list of victims in society are Black, homosexual, atheist, leftists with a Victim Index calculated as: VI = (3.3+3.2+4.1) x 3 = 31.8

At the end of the list are, obviously, White, straight, Christian, conservatives with a Victim Index of (1.3+1.2+1.1) x 1 = 3.6

Here are a few for comparison to confirm that all is as it should be and comports with reality:

A. White, Homosexual, Atheist, Moderate = 17.2
B. Indigenous, Lesbian, Christian, Leftist = 16.8
C. Black, Lesbian, Atheist, Conservative = 9.6
D. Black, Straight, Christian, Conservative = 5.6

That seems about right. The ACLU would surely defend A or B over C or D. To the Left, being conservative instantly makes you one of the oppressors regardless of the other categories you fit into. They'd be a bit torn about who to defend out of A & B but I think they'd back the Atheist over the Christian given the attacks they've made on Christian institutions over the years.

Now if someone out there could make a handy little Java plug-in out of the above then that would be a great help.
